Why The Ehlers-Danlos Support UK is our charity of the year

Green People has always supported small charities with a 10% donation of net profits and here we explain why The Ehlers-Danlos Support UK is our charity of the year.

What is The Ehlers-Danlos Support UK?

The Ehlers-Danlos Support UK (EDS UK) is a small UK charity whose work improves quality of life for people living with Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD) – a group of genetic connective tissue disorders that affect the whole body.

EDS Support UK

EDS is considered an ‘invisible’ chronic health condition and can take many years to diagnose. The work that EDS UK does is crucial for educating the public and caregivers on the symptoms and challenges of this chronic condition so that anyone affected can access the support they need.

Why is Green People supporting EDS UK?

We started working with EDS UK in 2021, shortly after our founder’s daughter, Alexandra Kay, was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Alexandra Kay passed away in June 2021 and, in her memory, we continue her legacy of helping others and raising awareness of this rare and incurable disease.

Determined to help others with the condition, before she passed away Alexandra paired her personal experience of seeking comfort from natural wellness techniques with her mother’s expertise in essential oils and created a range of natural wellbeing products which to help give balance back to those in need of comfort, calm and optimism.

We all wanted to continue Alexandra's legacy of helping others and giving back to the charity that had helped her to understand and manage her EDS symptoms.

By making EDS UK Green People’s charity of the year and donating a percentage of our annual profits to their work, we hope to raise awareness of the incredible work that EDS UK does to ensure that every person with EDS has access to the appropriate medical services and care and nobody is left to fight on their own.

How is Green People supporting The Ehlers-Danlos Support UK?

The donations provided Green People will be used to support The Ehlers-Danlos Support UK works across the UK to support, advise and inform those living with the conditions and the medical professionals working with them.

The charity relies solely on donations and your support helps them to make it that much easier for EDS patients to get support and information that can make a real difference toward their diagnosis time and treatment options.
